Sustainability
Wastage of surplus produce has long been a challenge in Nepal. With difficult terrain and limited infrastructure connecting farms to markets, much of what farmers could not sell was simply left to waste.
We saw the challenge of “Wastage” as an opportunity to add value and create prosperity for Manang valley.

Farming in the harsh climate of Manang, where crops grow only one season, is not easy. Generations of my family have lived in the mountains, where livelihood depend on what the land gives them and wasting anything carries serious consequences. So, respecting the land and wasting nothing has always been a custom my family has lived by.

My granddad, a horticulturist appointed by the Government of Nepal, envisioned a more prosperous future by seeing this problem as an opportunity to add value, where waste could be transformed into something that could contribute to the economy. That belief became part of our family’s way of thinking.
